PRE-CARE

  • Drink plenty of water prior to your treatment.

  • Come to your appointment with a clean face (remove all makeup before you arrive).

  • Eat an hour or so prior to your treatment.

  • Do not use aggressive exfoliation that can scratch the skin within 24 hours of your treatment.

  • Do not shave within four hours of your treatment.

  • Do not exercise prior to treatment.

  • Do not use sauna or steam room prior to treatment.

AFTERCARE

  • Hydrate yourself and drink plenty of water to maximize detoxification.

  • Avoid intake of caffeine, alcohol, salty or sugary foods and drinks, dairy, and processed foods for 24 hours to ensure there is no further toxin buildup, as these foods slow down your body’s ability to process the treatment.

  • Avoid exposure to excessive heat and cold including hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, cold showers/plunges, strong air conditioning, and cold and windy conditions. Your skin will be more sensitive to temperature. Give your skin some time to recover.

  • Avoid exercise or exertion.

  • Keep your face away from hot or cold water and use lukewarm water when washing and rinsing your face.

  • Use a clean and fresh pillowcase before bed to avoid any dirt or bacterial transfer from your used pillowcase to your clean face.

  • Any exfoliation should be done at least three days after the treatment to avoid the barrier of the skin from being damaged.

FACIAL TREATMENT ADD-ONS

LED LIGHT THERAPY

LED, or light emitting diode therapy is a skincare treatment that uses varying wavelengths of light to help serums and moisturizers penetrate the skin after a facial treatment. LED light therapy has a positive effect on cell growth, collagen and elastin production, and helps lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • NASA originally developed it for plant growth experiments on shuttle missions and later found it to have promise for wound treatment. LED light therapy is used to help regenerate the skin from aging and also used to treat acne.

  • Blue, red, green or yellow light frequencies are used based on the skincare concern:

    • Blue light therapy is used to eliminate acne-causing bacteria, reduce acne by clearing existing break-outs, helps ease inflamed skin, and restores skin’s healthy appearance. Blue light therapy is also shown to help treat and prevent some forms of skin cancer, treat sun damage, reduce acne scars, and can also be used as a treatment for depression.

    • Red light therapy is used to increase the production of collagen and elastin to smooth out wrinkles, fade fine lines, and give your skin a firmer and revitalized appearance. Red light therapy can also speed up wound healing by promoting skin cell proliferation, (especially fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells, and epidermal cells), and control hair loss.

    • Green light therapy is used to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation, promote healing and even out skin tone. Green light therapy can also be used to lighten freckles, reduce inflammation and calm redness.

    • Yellow light therapy is used to help stimulate the lymphatic system, soothe sensitive skin and brighten complexion. Yellow light therapy also has anti-inflammatory benefits which help reduce swelling and inflammation.

  • Unlike other types of light therapy, LEDs do not contain ultraviolet rays, so it is safe for regular use.

  • LED light therapy doesn’t cause burns compared to other anti-aging treatments and may be safe for all skin colours and types.

  • You should not use LED light therapy if you take Accutane for acne or if you’re experiencing skin rashes.

  • Side effects are rare, but may include increased inflammation, redness, and rashes.

ELECTROTHERAPY | HIGH FREQUENCY

High frequency is a skincare treatment that uses electrical current to treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, dark eye circles and puffy eyes. High Frequency produces enriched oxygen molecules that create an anti-bacterial action and warming effect on the skin, which helps blood vessels push away toxins while increasing blood circulation and cell renewal, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

  • Renowned scientist Nikola Tesla developed the first high frequency appliance in the late 1800’s, which was largely used for medical treatments such as treating strep throat and other infections, and to expedite the healing of wounds.

  • French biophysicist Jacques-Arsène d’Arsonval introduced the use of high frequency currents in 1892 to treat skin and mucous membrane diseases.

  • The cosmetic and healing benefits of high frequency on the skin was discovered in the 1970’s and by 1980, high frequency became widely used in North America by skin care professionals to treat a range of skin concerns from skin lesions, acne, waxing procedures and cold sores, to fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, dark eye circles and puffy eyes.

  • High frequency is considered to be a very safe, non-invasive and therapeutic approach to skin rejuvenation and healing, and has become one of the leading treatments for many skin conditions ranging from acne to wrinkles to hair loss.

ELECTROTHERAPY | FE 990 SKINCARE DEVICE

The FE 990 Skincare Device is a technologically advanced skincare treatment that uses radio frequency, electroporation, LED light therapy and electronic muscle stimulation to treat a variety of skin conditions including acne, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, dark eye circles and puffy eyes, and has a positive effect on cell growth, collagen and elastin production.

Radio Frequency (RF) – Helps detoxification, lymphatic drainage and promote blood circulation

Electroporation – Helps skincare penetrate deep into the lower layers of the skin

LED Light Therapy – Helps stimulate and activate skin cellular tissues

Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) – Helps stimulate the muscles to firm and tighten

Four elements are used to ensure that the electrical current works randomly and stimulates the muscle tissue very gently causing a secondary muscular movement that preserves the skin’s elasticity and suppleness. Macromolecular components such as collagen and hyaluronic acid cannot easily penetrate the deep layer of the skin from the surface. This skincare device mimics a collagen injection without a needle and aids in product absorption at a much deeper level, achieving a high level of effectiveness without any pain. The LED light therapy works efficiently without damaging the skin by using a sensitive LED light developed exclusively for this skincare device.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Contraindications are issues or illnesses that make Electrotherapy unsuitable or restricts the timing of treatment. Contraindications that may prohibit or postpone the treatment:

  • Pregnant - As a precaution, high frequency is not recommended during pregnancy.

  • Pacemaker - Due to the electrical currents involved, individuals with implanted medical devices like pacemakers cannot be treated.

  • Cardiovascular Conditions (thrombosis, phlebitis, hypertension, hypertension, angina) - Cannot be treated due to the potential risk of electrical interference with unstable or poorly controlled heart conditions.

  • Diabetes - Cannot be treated due to the increased risk of burns or tissue damage and the inability to effectively dissipate heat.

  • Epilepsy - Cannot be treated as high frequency could trigger or exacerbate seizures.

  • History of seizures triggered by flashing lights - As a precaution, cannot be treated as the electrical current may trigger a seizure.

  • Sensitive or compromised immune system - As a precaution, high frequency is not recommended.

  • Metal Implants - Due to the potential for significant heating of the metal implant, which could damage surrounding tissues, individuals with any type of metal implant, like pins, plates, screws, or artificial joints cannot be treated.

  • Active Infections - Viruses such as fevers, cold sores, warts; bacterial infections such as impetigo, facial boils, conjunctivitis, styes; and fungal infections such as ringworm. Cannot be treated as the electrical current may cause further damage or delay healing.

  • Medical Treatments/Medications - Recent laser treatment, using Accutane or retinoid, recent scar tissue (less than six months from minor operation, less than two years from major operation), medication that may have an effect on your treatment. Cannot be treated.

  • Open Wounds/Cuts/Abrasions - Cannot be treated as the electrical current can irritate and potentially worsen the wound site.

  • Skin Conditions - Cannot be used to treat over areas of broken capillaries, spider veins, active rosacea, eczema, acne vulgaris level 3 and 4, skin tags, sunburn, undiagnosed lumps, bruises or swelling, or severely inflamed skin as high frequency may exacerbate the condition or cause further irritation.

If the skin is not healthy or there are concerns, the treatment cannot be performed and you will need to see a dermatologist. Doctor’s approval may be required.
